University of Hong Kong ( "HKU") has been taking an active role in strategic international alliances with universities and research institutions worldwide. It has academic links with more than 400 overseas universities and plays host to over 1,800 international students. The University is committed to cultivating internationalism on campus and to supporting staff and student mobility projects and international programs at all levels.
Friends of the University of Hong Kong, Ltd ("Friends of HKU") was
initiated
by HKU alumni in the US and incorporated in December 1999 as a not-for-profit charitable organization based in the United States under the US Internal Revenue Code, Section 501 (c)(3). The mission of Friends of HKU is to support the advancement of the University of Hong Kong and acts as a bridge between the University and the US alumni and friends.
Friends of HKU facilitates donations from US citizens (or residents), as well as corporations and foundations, in support of the University's various development programs.
Donations to Friends of HKU are eligible for US tax deductions and may also be eligible for membership of the HKU Foundation.
Giving to the University will help foster the concept of a worldwide classroom which we have successfully implemented for years with many worthwhile research results that benefit communities around the world.
